Mike Marshall, traded by the Dodgers this year to the Mets, wants out of New York.

“I don’t fit in here,” said Marshall, who has informed the Mets that he will request a trade at season’s end and has called his decision irrevocable.

Marshall has been replaced at first base by Dave Magadan, who has pushed his batting average close to .378 and is on a 10-game hitting streak.

“We’re not going to do anything now,” Vice President Joe McIlvaine said.

Marshall’s multiyear contract, which is worth $1.1 million a year, runs out after this season. There is an option, but Marshall said he isn’t interested. If the Mets don’t honor his trade request in the off-season, he can be declared a free agent.

Marshall, who took himself out of a game June 12 because of a back problem, believes that platooning between him and Magadan by Manager Bud Harrelson “would have been the fair thing to do.”

Earlier this season when Marshall played regularly, Magadan complained he wasn’t seeing enough action and talked about being traded.

Marshall’s only at-bats in the last nine days were the three he had Sunday when he started in right field while Darryl Strawberry rested. Marshall is hitting .253, with six home runs and 26 runs-batted-in.

Marshall, who has had recurring back problems, was sent to the Mets along with relief pitcher Alejandro Pena in the deal that brought Juan Samuel to the Dodgers.
