Hollywood : City May Fence Off Alley

Share

Acting on complaints from members of the Self-Realization Fellowship Church on Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles City Councilman Michael Woo proposed Tuesday that an alley behind the church be closed to the public to deter crime and eliminate trash dumping.

In a motion referred to the council’s Public Works Committee, Woo proposed that the alley between Edgemont and Catalina streets just south of Sunset Boulevard be “withdrawn from public use” and that gates be erected at both ends.

Under the proposal, keys to the gates would be provided to adjoining property owners and the police and fire departments.
