Ex-RTD Officer Gets 6-Month Jail Term
A former RTD police officer was sentenced Friday to six months in jail for fraudulently soliciting nearly $100,000 in donations that were to go to charity but which were used to fund the participation of officers in the so-called Police Olympics.
David Deluca, former president of the defunct Los Angeles County Police Officers Assn., pleaded guilty to one count of felony grand theft. Superior Court Judge Lance Ito also ordered Deluca to pay $10,000 in restitution.
