LA PALMA : City Council Fixes Property Code Fines

Share

In an effort to encourage people to bring their property into compliance with city codes, the City Council has voted that landlords will have to pay $75 if they are cited twice for the same violation.

The program targets advertising and sign, health and sanitation and zoning code violations. Under the ad and sign code, just 10% of commercial window space is permitted to be covered with signs. According to the health and sanitation code, swimming pools must have safety enclosures, and the water must be kept clean. Yard maintenance and other nuisance items are part of the zoning code.

People violating city codes are issued a written notice by the director of building and safety. The infraction is dismissed if the condition is corrected, but if the violator has not complied, a citation with the reinspection fee of $75 will be issued.
