Hiker Slips, Is Killed in Angeles Forest Fall
A Long Beach man hiking in the Williams Canyon area of the Angeles National Forest fell 250 feet to his death as he attempted to climb a cliff, sheriff’s deputies said Sunday.
Ira Lee Crouser, 40, was hiking with his girlfriend when he slipped from the cliff about 6:30 p.m. Saturday. About 75 people witnessed Crouser’s fall.
Sheriff’s deputies flew to the scene by helicopter and a doctor pronounced Crouser dead.
“He was not an experienced hiker and he just slipped and fell,” Sgt. Robert Dearmore said.
