The name of a woman who died of multiple stab wounds off California 94 in Jamul was released Tuesday by the coroner’s office. Charlotte Ann Oakley, 29, was found by sheriff’s deputies in brush about 20 feet off the road.

Homicide Sgt. Steve Wood said Oakley’s body was found about a mile west of Honey Springs Road about 3:30 a.m. Monday after witnesses saw Oakley arguing with Billy Winston Elias, 36, of the 4500 block Utah Street in North Park.

Deputies were summoned to the area after witnesses said the man was holding on to the screaming Oakley.

Deputies later spotted Elias driving a car matching one described by witnesses. He was arrested and booked into County Jail on suspicion of murder, Wood said.

Oakley’s address is still unknown. However, coroner’s deputies said she is survived by her mother, who lives on the Barona Indian Reservation east of Lakeside.
