The California Highway Patrol was trying to identify a pedestrian who remained in critical condition today after he was struck by a car when he attempted to cross the west Riverside Freeway.
The man was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange after the accident, about 10:40 p.m. Tuesday.
CHP Officer Angel Johnson said the man was seen walking in the center divider west of Raymond Avenue in Anaheim before he stepped into the fast lane.
A 39-year-old Yorba Linda woman swerved but could not avoid striking the pedestrian, Johnson said.
Another vehicle then rear-ended the Yorba Linda motorist and sped off. Johnson said investigators were seeking information from the public on the hit-and-run driver.
The pedestrian suffered a broken pelvis and head, chest and other internal injuries.
