Museum Merger Study Dropped: The Los Angeles Board of Supervisors unanimously decided on Tuesday to discontinue a feasibility study of a proposal to merge the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History with the Arboreta and Botanic Gardens department. The board, acting on a motion by Supervisor Mike Antonovich, did not discuss the decision. There had been indications among board members of uncertainty over how the merger, which had been strongly advocated by the museum, would play out politically. The plan would have had the museum take over the department.
