LOCAL : Heroism Medal for Angeleno
The latest recipients of a Carnegie Medal for heroism include a 23-year-old Los Angeles man who was hurt while rescuing a youth from a gang, it was announced today.
Teacher’s assistant Ceasar Rodriguez was beaten by a gang of youths Jan. 27, 1989, when he rescued a 17-year-old boy on a street near his school. Rodriguez was hospitalized for two days with stab wounds to his right wrist and chest.
Seventeen people from 11 states were named winners of portions of a $42,500 grant from the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission today in Pittsburgh.
