Beverly Hills : $1 Fee for Trolley Set

Share

City officials have set $1 as the fare for the 40-minute Beverly Hills Trolley ride that has been free since its inception last year.

“It has been a successful program but very costly to the city,” said Chris Rugee, transit operations manager.

Two trolleys, actually antique-style buses with open sides, operate Tuesdays through Saturdays, except on holidays and rainy days.

Tours begin at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Dayton Way and Rodeo Drive and continue every half-hour until 5:30 p.m., following a route that includes the business and residential areas of the city.

Ridership totaled 61,264 last year, at a cost to the city of $3.59 per rider. The $1 charge, effective July, is intended to recoup some of the operating costs.
