VENTURA : Woman Injured in Crash, Baby Unhurt

Share

A car containing a 27-year-old Ventura woman and her 4-month-old baby slid down a 20-foot embankment of the Ventura Freeway near Victoria Avenue on Friday, police said.

Judy Kelty’s ankle and hip were injured, but the baby was not hurt, said Barry Simmons, information officer for the Ventura City Fire Department. Kelty was taken to Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura and treated and released, said Judy Drew, a nursing supervisor.

Kelty was driving south in the slow lane when a van cut her off, causing her to turn to the right to avoid a collision, Simmons said. The driver, possibly not realizing what had happened, left the scene, Simmons said.

Kelty was wearing a seat belt and her child was strapped in a baby seat when the accident occurred.
