Discounts Vary in Coupon Booklet

Budget Rent A Car of Southern California is offering a coupon booklet with discounts on hotels, restaurants and sightseeing attractions.

The booklet is provided when you rent a car for at least one day from any of Budget’s 90-plus agencies, from San Luis Obispo to San Diego.

Admission discounts are to such attractions as Knott’s Berry Farm, the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Wild Animal Park. You can get $4 off for up to six admissions at Knott’s Berry Farm. The discounts at the two San Diego attractions are also good for an entire family or group.

Invader Cruises, which offers narrated sailings around San Diego Bay, provides two free fares when you purchase two tickets. Gray Line in San Diego, Palm Springs and Anaheim offers a complimentary tour ticket if you buy one fare.

Hotels participating in the program include the Marriott hotels in Long Beach and Newport Beach; Desert Princess in the Palm Springs area; Red Lion hotels in Bakersfield, Costa Mesa and Ontario; the San Diego Hilton Beach and Tennis Resort; the Embassy Suites Hotel in Irvine and the Landmark Hotel/Casino and Maxim Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas.

The discount is 50% off regular rates or, in some cases, 10% off any special promotional room rate. You would get whichever of the two discounts is larger. Rooms are on a spece-available basis, with reservations generally required. Some hotels only offer the discount Sunday through Thursday, and some properties may have maximum-stay limitations.

Make sure that you announce your intention to use the discount coupon when making a reservation.

Restaurant coupons are two-for-one offers. Read the reverse side to see what restrictions or conditions may apply. Some coupons, for example, may indicate that a tip of 15% to 20% is added to the check before any discount applies.

Coupons are also available for future car/truck rentals following the rental in which you obtain the booklet. However, you could rent a car for only one day, return the car and get a discount for the next day’s rental, according to a Budget spokesman.

The discounts expire Nov. 1. Each booklet has a tear-off identification card that must be presented with the coupons.
