Jackie Silva of Redondo Beach and Karolyn Kirby of San Diego defeated Linda Hanley of Pacific Palisades and Linda Chisholm-Carrillo of Van Nuys, 15-11, in the final of the Laguna Beach Open pro beach volleyball tournament Sunday at Laguna Beach.

Silva and Kirby, the top-seeded team, won $6,650 each. Hanley and Chisholm-Carrillo, seeded sixth, each earned $3,150.

It was the sixth victory in eight tournaments for Silva, who ended her partnership with Janice Opalinski of San Juan Capistrano last week. They won the first five tournaments this season before losing the last two.

“I was supposed to play with Janice through (a tournament in) Hawaii this week,” Silva said. “But I wanted to find a better partner and get some more practice in.”

They got plenty of it in Sunday’s final.

Kirby and Silva capitalized on errors by Hanley and Chisholm-Carrillo to build a 10-5 lead. But Hanley had three kills in a 5-1 run that cut the deficit to 11-10. Kirby and Silva pushed the lead to 14-11, and Silva ended it with an ace.
