Here’s Where to See Fireworks in the County

Colorful fireworks will light up the night of the Fourth of July at 20 locations around San Diego County.

Tonight at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium, a pyrotechnic display will follow the 7:35 p.m. game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Camp Pendleton--The Times incorrectly reported Tuesday that Camp Pendleton will be open to the public for the Independence Day fireworks show tonight at 9 p.m. Camp Pendleton will be open only to active-duty military personnel, retired military, and their families with proper identification. The display will be visible in some parts of Oceanside.

On Wednesday, fireworks will arc through the sky at the following locations:

* Camp Pendleton: South Jetty, 9 p.m. Spectators will find best viewing on the base itself, at Del Mar Beach or the parking lot and dirt areas around the South Mesa Staff Noncommissioned Officers Club. The base is open to the public for the show.

* Chula Vista: Marina View Park, 9 p.m. Best viewing will be from the grassy areas of Marina View Park or across the bay on the Silver Strand. Free shuttle service to the marina will be provided from H Street and Palomar Street Trolley Stations just off Interstate 5.

* Coronado: Glorietta Bay, 9 p.m. The show can best be seen from Glorietta Bay Park and the Coronado Golf Course. Pre-show events, including a 5K fun run, parade, military air demonstration and a San Diego Symphony Brass Quintet concert, will begin at 6:30 a.m.

* Del Mar: Fairgrounds, 9 p.m. The show will be visible from anywhere on the fairgrounds. Unreserved seating is available in the grandstand. The fireworks will also be visible from the beach directly across from the fairgrounds and surrounding hillsides.

* El Cajon: Cajon Speedway, 9 p.m.

* El Cajon: Granite Hills High School, 9 p.m. Kennedy Park at 4th Street and Madison will be the best place for viewing.

* La Jolla: La Jolla Country Club, 9 p.m.

* Lakeside: El Capitan High School, 9 p.m.

* Mira Mesa: Mira Mesa High School, 9 p.m.

* Mission Bay: Mission Bay Yacht Club, 9 p.m.

* North Island: Breakers Beach, 9 p.m.

* Ocean Beach: Ocean Beach Pier, 9 p.m. Best viewing will be at Ocean Beach Park and west-facing Point Loma hillsides. Boaters viewing the display can come within 500 feet of the pier.

* Oceanside: Oceanside Pier, 9 p.m. The best view will be at Oceanside Beach. Boaters viewing the show can come within 500 feet of the pier. At 7 p.m., a patriotic concert by Flanigan’s International Band at the Oceanside Amphitheater just south of the pier will precede the fireworks.

* Rancho Bernardo: Industrial Park, 9:30 p.m.

* Rancho Penasquitos: Mt. Carmel High School, 9 p.m.

* San Diego: Hospitality Point on Mission Bay, 9:25 p.m.

* San Diego: Sea World, 9 p.m. The show will be visible from anywhere inside the park. The fireworks will also be visible from most parts of Mission Bay, including Fiesta Island, Vacation Isle and Crown Point. The fireworks will be shot off from a barge in Mission Bay between Sea World and Fiesta Island. Boaters viewing the display can come within 500 feet of the barge.

* Santee: Mission Gorge and Cuyamaca, 9 p.m.

* Vista: Brengle Terrace Park, 9 p.m.
