THE SIDELINES : U.S. Has Edge in Federation Cup
The United States will have the home-court advantage this year as it tries to defend its title in the Federation Cup.
The women’s international team title will be contested July 22-29 at the Peachtree World of Tennis, marking the fourth time in the event’s 27-year history that it will be held in the United States.
Jennifer Capriati and Martina Navratilova are among the five Americans nominated for four berths on the U.S. team. Other nominees include Steffi Graf of West Germany, Gabriela Sabatini of Argentina and 1989 French Open champion Arantxa Sanchez Vicario of Spain.
