Man Found Beaten to Death in Condo
A man in his 60s was found beaten to death at his seaside condominium in Port Hueneme shortly after midnight on Wednesday, police reported.
Authorities withheld the man’s name while they attempted to notify relatives, Deputy Coroner’s Investigator Jim Wingate said.
An autopsy was scheduled for this morning. Wingate would disclose few details about the death.
He would say only that several different kinds of objects could have been used in the beating. The man was found in an upstairs bedroom, he said.
Port Hueneme police reported that the dead man’s roommate, whose name was also withheld, returned to the condominium in the 900 block of Lighthouse Way to find the home in disarray.
The roommate called the complex’s security officer, who notified police.
Police said items had been taken from the home but would not elaborate. No suspects were in custody.
