The Three Amigos: The world’s three most famous tenors sang under the full moon of a Roman sky Saturday in their first concert together, on the eve of the World Cup soccer final. Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, singing in glorious harmony, buried their rivalry in a two-hour spectacular expected to raise millions of dollars for charity. A 6,000-strong audience in the ruins of the 3rd Century Baths of Caracalla demanded three encores from the maestros. To avoid bruising egos, they came on the stage in alphabetical order and took turns singing opera arias. They joined together at the end for a 20-minute medley of popular songs, including “Maria” from “West Side Story,” “Memory” from the musical “Cats,” “La Vie en Rose” and “O Sole Mio.”
