HUNTINGTON BEACH : School District Picks Project Developer

Share

Huntington Beach Union High School District announced Friday that it has picked two Los Angeles County developers to build homes and stores on district-owned land.

The Andover Cos. of Pasadena and the Chandler Group of Burbank will build on mostly vacant district land at Golden West and Warner avenues. The 14-acre site is next to Ocean View High School.

Ocean View High’s football field, track and softball fields are on the land slated for development. All those facilities will be relocated, at the developers’ expense, to other vacant land at the school, school officials said.

The officials added that the developers also will build, at no cost to the school district, a 20,000-square-foot office building to serve as the district’s new administrative headquarters and six new tennis courts for Ocean View.

The district said it will get $200 million over a 55-year lease period for development of the land.
