A Valencia man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and manslaughter Tuesday after his car crossed into an oncoming traffic lane on a canyon road in Green Valley and crashed head-on into another car, killing the other driver, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Kenneth Gurule, 21, was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail after the 3:30 a.m. accident on San Francisquito Canyon Road at Pelton Street in the rural area north of Santa Clarita, CHP Officer Steve Cortes said.

The identity of the 60-year-old Lake Hughes man who was killed in the accident was not released, pending notification of his family.

Gurule was driving north on the two-lane San Francisquito Canyon Road when his car drifted into the southbound lane and struck the oncoming car, Cortes said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gurule failed a roadside sobriety test and was arrested, Cortes said.

Gurule was treated for slight injuries at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia and then booked into the Los Angeles County Jail.
