BREA : Man Sought in Strangling Attempt

Share

Police on Tuesday released a composite drawing of a man suspected of trying to strangle a woman with a nylon stocking in a public restroom.

The 20-year-old victim was attacked July 5 as she went into a restroom on the third floor of an office building at 140 S. State College Blvd., police said.

Authorities said the victim apparently went into the restroom every morning at about the same time to put on her makeup. On the day she was attacked, the suspect followed her into the restroom, grabbed her hair and left shoulder and threw her across the room and into a wall, police said.

The suspect then pushed the victim to the ground, took a nylon from his pocket, tied it around her neck and lifted her off the floor by the nylon, police said. Police found the victim unconscious.

She said she met the suspect through a sorority and fraternity mixer and knew him only as “Chris.”

A composite drawing has been distributed to law enforcement agencies throughout California and Oregon.

The suspect is described as 24 to 27 years old, about 5 feet, 11 inches to 6 feet, 1 inch tall, weighing between 150 and 165 pounds with shoulder-length blond hair and piercing blue eyes.
