The quick action of a neighbor, a sheriff’s deputy and a helicopter pilot who landed in a front yard were credited with saving the life of a 2-year-old La Canada Flintridge boy who nearly drowned Thursday.

The infant, Timothy Rodgers, had fallen unnoticed into the family swimming pool shortly before 1 p.m. An unidentified neighbor visiting the home noticed the unconscious youngster, pulled him out and immediately began administering CPR while the boy’s mother called 911, said Deputy Rich Erickson of the sheriff’s information bureau.

A deputy from the Crescenta Valley sheriff’s station and a sheriff’s helicopter arrived within minutes. The deputy rushed the youngster to the helicopter, which had landed in a neighbor’s front yard. The child was immediately flown to Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale, where he was reported in good condition.
