A 24-year-old Silmar man was arrested along Interstate 5 in northern San Diego County Saturday after the woman riding in a car with him began screaming that she was being kidnaped, the Sheriff’s Department reported.

Border Patrol agents had approached the car Saturday afternoon after it pulled to the side of the highway at San Onofre and they noticed a woman and man inside fighting. Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man they identified as Juan Vegas, brother-in-law of the woman in the car, and accused him of kidnaping.

They said the woman, whom they did not identify, had been kidnaped from her home in Pacoima earlier in the day after a family dispute.
