Mexican Fruit Fly Found; No Spraying Planned

State agriculture officials announced Tuesday the discovery of a Mexican fruit fly in Watts about a quarter of a mile from a Compton neighborhood already infested with the pest. The immature male was trapped Monday in a lemon tree. Eradication officials said the discovery will be treated with the release of sterile Mexflies and will not require aerial malathion spraying.
