Malcolm MacKay; Former Company President
Malcolm MacKay, former president of Lowe-Pro USA, a Chatsworth camera bag distribution firm, has died at his Woodland Hills home. He was 48.
MacKay died Saturday of cancer, said his wife, Gerri MacKay.
A resident of Kingston, Pa., MacKay came to California in 1974. He worked in management for several companies in the camera equipment business, including Ilford Photo in Gardena, Kiron Corp. in Carson and Tamrac Inc. in Canoga Park. He served as president of Lowe-Pro USA from January,1989, until April, 1990, when he resigned because of poor health.
For the past decade, he played with the over-30 softball league in Woodland Hills.
He is survived by his wife of two years; a son, Malcolm MacKay Jr. III of Gaylord, Mich.; a daughter, Michelle MacKay of Woodland Hills; a stepson, Christopher Page of Woodland Hills; a stepdaughter, Cynthia Page of Woodland Hills; mother, Kathleen Quinn MacKay of Newburgh, N.Y.; brothers, John MacKay of Laguna Niguel, Bruce MacKay of Annapolis, Md., and Neal MacKay of Middletown, N.Y.
A funeral was held Wednesday, with burial at Oakwood Memorial Park. Reardon Simi Valley Mortuary handled the arrangements. Donations can be sent in MacKay’s name to the American Cancer Society or the City of Hope.
