FILLMORE : Residents Are Using A Lot Less Water

Share

Fillmore residents, without being asked, have voluntarily reduced water consumption by 14% compared to last year, but the City Council is only asking for a 10% reduction.

“We are not asking for an additional reduction, but trying to encourage people to continue what they have already been doing,” City Manager Roy Payne said.

John Kozar, superintendent of public works, said the water table in Fillmore is slightly lower than normal.

“We’re encouraging conservation, especially during the summer months,” Kozar said. He suggested that the drop in water consumption is the result of widespread publicity about the four-year drought in Southern California.

Water conservation kits will be available in City Hall. Restaurants and other businesses will be urged to conserve water.

“We don’t see a water problem now, drought or no drought,” Payne said. “We commend the people of Fillmore for their efforts thus far.”
