Filing has opened for candidates for two seats on the five-member board of the South Bay Hospital District, a foundation that provides money for public health programs in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach.
Seats held by Ken Johnson and Jean G. McMillan will be contested. Johnson, who was appointed to the board last August, said he will run for a four-year term. McMillan, a board member for 10 years, was out of town and could not be reached for comment.
Candidacy forms may be obtained from the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder, 5557 Ferguson Drive, Commerce, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Candidates must file by 5 p.m. Aug. 10. Candidates must be registered voters and reside in one of the three beach cities.
