Quake in South Pacific Rocks Vanuatu Islands

HONG KONG —
A powerful earthquake struck in the South Pacific near the island nation of Vanuatu on Friday, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, authorities said.
The quake had a magnitude of 7.3, according to the Hong Kong Observatory. The U.S. Geological Survey in Golden, Colo., recorded the temblor at 6.5.
