THE SIDELINES : Tired Lemond Skips Dutch Races
Greg Lemond, the three-time Tour de France champion, has canceled his participation in a series of Dutch races because of fatigue, organizers said today.
A Dutch teammate of Lemond’s on the French Z team, Johan Lammers, told race officials that Lemond is “really worn out” and will not compete in four Dutch races scheduled for the next nine days, Dutch Cycling Federation official Garry van Gerwen said.
Since winning his third Tour de France on July 22, Lemond has raced in several French criteriums, circuit races around town centers.
