Tougher Odds in Lotto Game
I agree completely with the “dumbness” of adding four numbers to the lottery because it is now more appealing to go to Las Vegas or Reno for better odds and more enjoyment. The lotto commission has killed the motivation to play Lotto by making it a sucker bet.
Californians are not stupid and the Lotto commission’s expectations of an increase in feeding frenzies with half the chance of winning is an insult to the intelligence of the average person. Many Californians have personal computers at home and use statistics or lottery game programs as recreation.
Many regular lottery players who played a continuous win guarantee game with the 6/49 have dropped it since it changed to 6/53.
Last year, the pot in the first drawing after the announcement of the planned change to 6/53 dropped from the normal $6 million to $4.5 million. The pot then crept back up to around $5.5 million (maybe in hopes that it wouldn’t happen) and was almost back to normal when the change to 6/53 came.
Yes, Californians who enjoy gambling may do so, but Californians are not stupid and the Lotto commission may have made a big mistake.
