Geneva M. Brewster; Retired Lockheed Supervisor

Geneva M. Brewster, who inspected airplane parts at Lockheed Corp. during World War II and later supervised the duplicating department, has died in Burbank. She was 85.

Mrs. Brewster, who had lived in the same Burbank house since 1939, died Friday of complications related to a recent heart attack and stroke, said her son, Richard Brewster.

Born Geneva Erwin on May 27, 1905, in Clinton, Ky., she came to California as a child. She graduated from Huntington Park High School and in 1942 went to work for Lockheed in Burbank. She was an assembly line worker and later inspected airplane rivets that were manufactured at the plant. After World War II ended, she supervised the duplicating department, making blueprints and copies of reports and memos. She retired in 1970.

Mrs. Brewster was also active in the Burbank chapter of Church Women United and the Christian Women’s Fellowship at the Little White Chapel Christian Church in Burbank.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth Brewster of Burbank; a son, Richard Brewster of Burbank; a daughter, Barbara Hoeke of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Howard Erwin of Vancouver, Wash.; a sister, Ruth Chandler of Corvallis, Ore.; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

A funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. today at the Little White Chapel Christian Church. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park, which is handling the arrangements.
