Local News in Brief : Temporary Jurist to Replace Ailing Judge
- Share via
Glendale Municipal Court officials have been authorized to appoint a temporary jurist to replace an ill judge who has been unable to work.
A temporary court commissioner is expected to be named by Aug. 20 to replace Judge Cheryl Krott, who has been off the bench since June 22. The court’s presiding judge, Charles E. Horan, declined to describe the illness.
Krott has had two surgeries since last August, Horan said. It is uncertain whether or how soon she will return to the courtroom. Retired Judge Samuel Laidig has substituted for Krott but will leave the position Aug. 17, Horan said. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted July 24 to authorize a temporary jurist.
Krott joined the bench in 1983 as a commissioner and was made a judge in 1986, court officials said.
