Jack Sklar; Retired Manufacturing Plant Owner

Jack Sklar, who owned an airplane parts manufacturing plant in North Hollywood, has died in Studio City. He was 74.

Sklar died July 29 of complications from heart problems, said his son, Buddy Sklar. The elder Sklar was a longtime Van Nuys resident.

A Chicago native, Sklar came to California in 1947. In 1950, he and the late Paul Blutrich opened P & J Engineering Inc., which made parts for commercial and military planes.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Bea; a son, Buddy Sklar of Simi Valley; daughters, Honore Weiner of Westlake Village and Karen Ginsburg of Canoga Park; a stepson, Alan Troop of Westwood Village; and seven grandchildren. A funeral was held this week with burial at Sholom Memorial Park in San Fernando. Sholom Mortuary Directors handled the arrangements.
