CAMARILLO : 3 Candidates File for Council Election
Camarillo Mayor Charlotte Craven filed for reelection Monday, bringing to three the field of official City Council candidates for the November election.
Charles K. Gose, who retired after 22 years of teaching economics and government at Channel Islands High School in Oxnard, also filed for the council Monday. Gose and Craven join the first declared candidate, Paul J. Kliebert, a retired purchasing agent and investigator for Los Angeles County, who filed Friday.
Another seven potential candidates have picked up candidacy papers but have not returned them, City Clerk Marilyn Thiel said.
The candidates have until 5 p.m. Aug. 15 to enter the race.
The normal filing period closes Aug. 10 but is extended when incumbents do not run for reelection. Neither Councilwoman Sandi Bush nor Councilman Tom Martin is seeking reelection.
Council members are elected at large, and the top three vote-getters will win the three open seats. After the election, council members will vote for a new mayor, who will take office in December and serve for a year.
