Two semi trailer-trucks collided head-on Tuesday morning near the intersection of California 76 and Interstate 15, the California Highway Patrol said.
The drivers were identified as Gary Stewart, 26, of Las Vegas, who was listed in critical condition at Palomar Medical Center, and Gary Scarborough, 24, of Riverside, who was in serious condition.
The crash occurred at 9 a.m. about half a mile west of the junction on California 76 when the westbound truck drifted into the eastbound lanes, said Mary Alexander, a CHP spokeswoman.
The accident closed the road for several hours, she said.
