LA HABRA : Phone Tip to Police Leads to Rape Arrest

Tipped off by a caller reporting a rape in progress, police arrested a 26-year-old man Sunday in connection with the incident.

Manuel Medina of La Habra was being held in Orange County Jail late Sunday.

The 30-year-old female victim, whose name was not released, was walking alone near the intersection of Lambert Road and Walnut Street at about 4 a.m. when she was allegedly accosted by Medina, said La Habra Police Sgt. Ron Harryman.

Harryman said the rape was in progress when police arrived and that the victim did not know her attacker. The woman suffered bruises to her face and was treated and released at St. Jude Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, Harryman said.
