Share

The city has announced that its water conservation program has resulted in a 12% reduction in water usage. The figure is below the 15% goal set by city officials.

A mandatory conservation program instituted by the city this year has uncovered 272 cases in which gardeners or residents exceeded water consumption levels. City officials said more than 50% of those cases involved over-spraying of landscaping.

The city’s conservation figure was equal to the mark cited by 300 cities and unincorporated communities served by the Metropolitan Water District. The city of Los Angeles reported a 15.5% savings in June.
