Two men pleaded not guilty Thursday to murder and robbery charges in the shooting death of a popular security guard at the San Fernando Swap Meet.

Ricardo Roldan, 19, of Pacoima and Richard Zorns, 19, of Arleta are accused of stealing $12,000 from the swap meet manager and then fatally shooting a 61-year-old guard, Roland (Lucky) Teal.

Roldan and Zorns were charged with murder, attempted murder and robbery at their arraignment in San Fernando Municipal Court. Roldan faces the death penalty if convicted because he is alleged to be the triggerman.

A third suspect, a juvenile boy, is being held at Sylmar Juvenile Hall on similar charges.

Prosecutors allege that Roldan shot Teal in the back when Teal tried to detain the juvenile, who was running away with the money bag.
