GARDEN GROVE : Boy, 4, Dies After Being Struck by Car
A 4-year-old boy died Friday morning after being struck by a car in Garden Grove, police said.
Jose Roberto Valladares died after being hospitalized overnight in the pediatric intensive-care unit at UCI Medical Center in Orange, hospital spokeswoman Fran Tardiff said.
Jose was playing in the front yard of his home in the 12000 block of Buaro Street at 5:30 p.m. Thursday when he suddenly dashed out into the street, Garden Grove Police Lt. Kenneth Adair said.
“The child ran out from between two parked cars,” Adair said. “Nobody seems to know why the kid ran into the street.”
Sasha Brooks, 19, of Garden Grove, could not stop her 1985 Mitsubishi in time to avoid the child. Jose suffered massive head injuries and was rushed to the hospital. The driver was not cited in the accident, Adair said.
