The NFL announced that, for the first time, it will scramble its telecasts, beginning with the start of the regular season Sept. 9.
The NFL said no descrambling option will be available. Only local networks will be authorized to receive the signal.
Val Pinchbeck, vice president in charge of broadcasting for the NFL, said satellite dish operators often did not receive local commercials, which had angered advertisers across the country.
