Countywide Review of Court Security Ordered

Los Angeles County supervisors Tuesday ordered a review of security, including possible installation of metal detectors, at all courthouses.
The study was requested by Supervisor Mike Antonovich in response to a brawl Thursday between rival gang members in the crowded lobby of the West Los Angeles Municipal Courthouse.
“The need to ensure the safety of those who use our courts must remain among our highest priorities,” Antonovich said. Law enforcement officials were asked to review the number of marshals and sheriff’s depu ties assigned to courts and report back to supervisors in 30 days.
