Poster Yanked: Police confiscated a poster of Jane’s Addiction’s new album cover at a record store in Royal Oak, Mich., on Tuesday. The poster for the L.A. group’s “Ritual do lo Habitual” shows a piece of fetish-like folk art that features a man and two women, naked in bed, with the sheets down low enough to expose their genitals. The police charged owners of the store Off the Record with a misdemeanor for displaying obscene material. Ironically, there is a substitute record cover that Jane’s Addiction leader Perry Farrel had made to avoid this problem in record stores. It features the First Amendment on a white background. But a Warner Bros. Records spokesman said the original version outsells the substitute 3 to 1.
