Bobby Shannon’s two-run homer in the fifth inning lifted Shippensburg, Pa., to a 5-4 victory over Cypress on Saturday, sending the Pennsylvania team into the championship game of the Little League World Series against Taiwan.

To clinch the victory, Shippensburg thwarted a no-out squeeze bunt in the bottom of the sixth and final inning. Pinch-hitter Joe Katchka bunted with Eddie Zamora at third, Katchka was out at first and Zamora was tagged out as he dove for the plate.

Pitcher David Orndorff struck out eight and drove in two runs for Shippensburg.

In the fifth, Orndorff beat out a two-hopper to shortstop, scoring Jimmy Smith to tie the score. Shannon hit the next pitch over the left-field fence to make it 5-3.
