Orlin Norris of San Diego knocked out Danny Wofford of Spartanburg, S.C., at 1:59 of the 10th round Tuesday night in their heavyweight bout at The Country Club.

Norris, who weighed 227 pounds, dominated the bout from start to finish. However, he was unable to floor Wofford until a right uppercut put Wofford on one knee in the 10th.

Wofford got up and tried to hang on, but when he slipped to the canvas, referee Lou Filippo stopped the bout, which was scheduled for 10 rounds.

Norris was fighting for the first time in 6 1/2 months. He lost his North American Boxing Federation heavyweight title on Feb. 17 when he tore ligaments in his left knee while fighting Bert Cooper in the eighth round. Norris was ahead on points when he was injured.

Earlier, David Kamau of Los Angeles knocked out Rogelio Montenegro of Mexico City at 1:38 of the seventh round in their junior welterweight bout which was scheduled for 10 rounds.
