A two-time national wrestling champion has been accused of sexually abusing six adolescent boys while working as a summer camp counselor.

Broderick Eugene Lee, 21, surrendered to the Portland Police Bureau sex crimes unit Tuesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest, said Detective Bill Carter.

Lee, of Portland State University, is accused of 40 counts of second-degree sexual abuse. The incidents allegedly occurred in June while Lee was working at a wrestling camp sponsored by the USA Oregon Athletic Club, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Chuck Sparks.

Sparks said Lee also is accused in a multiple-page indictment of three counts of providing alcohol to a minor. He is being held at the Justice Center jail in lieu of $64,500 bail, according to jail records.

Six young people ages 15 to 18 were the apparent victims, Sparks said. He declined to release other details about the case.

Lee won the NCAA Division II national championship in the 118-pound weight class in 1989 and 1990. He traveled to Hungary, Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union last year to wrestle as a member of a U.S. national team.
