Relations between Anaheim and Angels owner Gene Autry are improving. . . . Anaheim Mayor Fred Hunter will emcee a Sept. 27 luncheon honoring Autry’s 83rd birthday. Five years ago, then Mayor Don Roth was banished from the head table at an “Angels Day” luncheon. Litigation between the city and the Angels over a proposed office building in the Big A’s parking lot is still pending, but Autry backed Hunter for mayor in 1988. “I personally have always gotten along with Gene Autry,” says Hunter. “He’s a hero to me.”
