MOORPARK : Council to Discuss High School Site
A special Moorpark City Council committee meeting to discuss buying the Casey Road site where Moorpark Memorial High School sits will be held Tuesday.
The committee will meet with the Moorpark Unified School District board to consider the sale, which has been the source of a legal battle between the city and the school district for more than two years.
The school district wants to sell the property for development, but the city ruled that development would increase traffic in the downtown area. The city wants to buy part of the property at a reduced price to build a city park.
The site is now used for a continuation high school.
The public meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the board room of the Moorpark Unified School District.
