Nelle Tarr; Longtime North Hollywood Resident

Nelle Tarr, a longtime North Hollywood resident and member of the Order of Eastern Star, has died in Van Nuys. Some relatives said she was 98 while others said she was 100.

Mrs. Tarr died Friday of natural causes, said her stepson, Roy Tarr Jr.

Born Nelle Williams in Spokane, Wash., she came to Los Angeles as a child and worked as a secretary after graduating from high school. In 1939, married Roy Tarr, who died in 1960. Tarr had a son by a previous marriage.

Mrs. Tarr was a longtime member of the North Hollywood branch of the Order of Eastern Star. She was also an expert seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her stepson, Roy Tarr Jr. of Boulder City, Nev.; three granddaughters and four great-granddaughters.

A memorial service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 6020 Radford Ave. in North Hollywood. Aftercare California Cremation & Burial Society is handling the arrangements.
