Countywide : Indian Education Center to Relocate

Share

The California Indian Education Center is moving into a different building at the former Washington School in Ventura.

The center, a nonprofit service for Indians throughout the county sponsored by the Native American Indian Inter-Tribal Assn. of Ventura County, has been leasing the school’s auditorium at 96 MacMillan Ave. for its Indian education and cultural programs.

This weekend, it will move to a 1,650-square-foot bungalow on the campus.

The bungalow offers more privacy, windows, an enclosed playground and parking, said Floyd Beller, association chairman.

Until recently, the bungalow housed a day-care center.

Volunteers are needed to help spruce up the bungalow between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday. Meals will be provided to anyone who helps with painting and minor repairs.
