NASHVILLE, Tenn. —
Minnie Pearl poked fun at her pacemaker when she urged support for United Way.
The humorist and Grand Ole Opry star said Thursday: “The doctor must have put it in wrong. Every time my husband kisses me, the garage door goes up.”
Pearl, 77, honorary co-chairwoman for an eight-county United Way fund drive, also managed to joke about her 1985 breast cancer surgery to more than 80 people at a United Way gathering.
“They gave me the breast of an 18-year-old, so I’m 18 years old from the waist up,” she said.
