LOCAL : Driver Killed on Hollywood Fwy.
One man was killed and two others were seriously injured today when a speeding car veered out of control on the Hollywood Freeway in Studio City and crashed into a barrier wall, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Officer John Lessentiv said the accident occurred about 2:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the Hollywood Freeway near the Lankershim Boulevard exit. The name of the 18-year-old Hollywood man who was killed in the crash was not released.
The victim was driving an estimated 100 m.p.h. when he lost control of the vehicle and hit the center median of the freeway, Lessentiv said. The car then rebounded across all the northbound lanes of the freeway, went up an embankment and hit a light pole and barrier wall. The car then overturned and the driver and two passengers were ejected.
Passengers Carlos A. Juarez, 23, of Hollywood and a 17-year-old Hollywood boy whose name was not released suffered serious injuries and were being treated at St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, Lessentiv said.
